Questions about moving to Belgium?
Moving to Belgium
Daily life
Living and working in Belgium means moving to an economically dynamic, internationally oriented and culturally diverse market. KOCH Moving Logistics GmbH accompanies international relocations to Belgium with structured planning and organisational coordination.

ENTRY INTO BELGIUM
Residence regulations
Entry and residence regulations in Belgium include registration with the local municipal administration as well as registration in the respective region. EU citizens can enter visa‑free with a valid identity card or passport and stay for up to three months. For a longer stay, registration with the municipality is required within eight days of arrival. Since April 2026, online registration via the "My Address in Belgium" (MAB) form is also possible. KOCH Moving Logistics GmbH takes these framework conditions into account in the organisational planning of your international move.
LIVING IN BELGIUM
Real estate market
The Belgian property market includes various housing options, such as rental apartments in urban centres, single‑family homes in residential areas or rural properties in the provinces – depending on region, budget and residence status. Rental prices vary by location, with the capital Brussels and the major cities of Antwerp and Ghent having the highest rents. For emigrants, the private rental market is generally the focus. KOCH Moving Logistics takes regional characteristics into account and supports you in the organisational preparation related to housing and location choice.

WORKING IN BELGIUM
Job opportunities for Germans
Working in Belgium means integrating into an economically stable market with specific regulatory and cultural conditions. KOCH Moving Logistics takes into account employment and residence‑related requirements when planning international moves for skilled workers, expats and corporate relocations. The country has a diverse job market – German skilled professionals are in demand especially in sectors such as logistics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, IT, engineering, as well as healthcare and social services.
EDUCATION IN BELGIUM
Schools for expats
In Belgium, expats have access to both public schools – divided according to the Dutch, French and German language regions – as well as international and private educational institutions, depending on the region and residence status. Especially in Brussels and other major cities, there are numerous international schools offering English, American or IB curricula. KOCH Moving Logistics GmbH takes educational and organisational conditions into account when planning an international move with a family.

IMPORTANT ASPECTS – BELGIUM
Healthcare system
The healthcare system in Belgium includes public and private facilities with a high standard of care – medical care ranks among the best in Europe. There is compulsory health insurance, which covers the majority of doctor and hospital costs. EU citizens with a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) receive the same benefits temporarily. KOCH Moving Logistics GmbH takes health‑related framework conditions into account as part of the organisational preparation for a move to Belgium.
FINANCES
Tax system in Belgium
The tax system in Belgium, as well as opening a bank account and international money transfers, are central issues for a long‑term stay. Belgium has a progressive income tax system with staggered rates (25%, 40%, 45%, 50%). In addition, municipalities levy a municipal tax. As a German emigrant, you benefit from the double taxation agreement between Germany and Belgium. KOCH Moving Logistics GmbH takes financial and residence‑related framework conditions into account as part of the structured planning of your move to Belgium.

BELGIAN CULTURE
Cultural characteristics
Belgium is characterised by a long cultural tradition, three official languages (Dutch, French, German) and a dynamic culinary and artistic development. From the Flemish masters (Rubens, Van Eyck, Bruegel) to the comic tradition (Tintin, The Smurfs) to the famous chocolates, Belgian beer (UNESCO World Heritage) and traditional waffles and fries – the country offers a unique cultural diversity. KOCH Moving Logistics GmbH takes cultural and regional characteristics into account when preparing a move to Belgium, to support structured orientation in the new environment.
EMIGRATING TO BELGIUM
Leisure and recreation
Belgium offers diverse leisure and travel opportunities – from the historic city centres of Bruges (UNESCO World Heritage), Ghent and Antwerp, to the picturesque Ardennes with their hiking and cycling trails, to the North Sea coast with its seaside resorts.
