Sustainability at KOCH Umzugslogistik Osnabrueck – Environmental Protection and Green Logistics

Sustainability is an integral part of the development of KOCH Umzugslogistik. Environmental, social and economic aspects are considered together with the aim of conserving resources, reducing environmental impact and making sustainable practices a long-term part of the company’s operations.

KOCH pursues sustainable business development and takes environmental, social and economic sustainability into account when making decisions.

Sustainability is not limited to individual projects. KOCH aims to establish environmental and social responsibility throughout the company and develop new solutions together with employees, customers and partners.

KOCH has defined seven strategic environmental goals designed to conserve resources over the long term and meet the environmental expectations of customers, employees and the region.

KOCH uses technological developments and efficient transport processes to reduce the environmental impact of logistics operations.

This includes optimizing routes and travel distances as well as avoiding unnecessary empty runs. Driver training focused on economical and environmentally conscious driving is another important part of this approach.

KOCH is also testing alternative drive technologies, including electric trucks and electric shunting vehicles. In 2026, electromobility was further expanded with three new fully electric tractor units.

During a joint long-distance test with BASF Coatings, an electric truck covered more than 10,000 kilometers within four weeks and transported more than 2,000 tonnes of cargo. Compared with a diesel truck, the test achieved a 45 % reduction in CO₂ emissions.

Sustainability is also implemented at KOCH’s own locations. Measures include photovoltaic systems, intelligent LED lighting, rainwater collection for the truck washing facility and water-saving toilet systems.

Environmental considerations also play a role in how materials are handled. These include repair and reuse, individual packaging advice and the upcycling of used cardboard boxes.

In 2024 , paper consumption was reduced by more than 30% .

KOCH also promotes biodiversity through the natural design of its company premises. Measures include beehives, nesting boxes and insect hotels.

Sustainability cannot be achieved through technical measures alone. Employees and management are also actively involved.

This includes training on reducing electricity consumption, initiatives to raise environmental awareness and activities such as the Stadtradeln cycling campaign and community clean-up events.

Sustainable mobility is also encouraged, for example by supporting the use of public transport and company bicycles.
